Reddit advertising in 2026

A brand can spend thousands of dollars on advertising, but a single Reddit thread about withdrawal issues can outweigh those efforts in the eyes of a potential customer.

This is especially true in iGaming. Before registering, players look for operator reviews, check bonus terms, and read about other players' experiences. These discussions often shape their first impression of a brand.

Reddit has long moved beyond being a traditional forum. In Q2 2026, the platform had 130.3 million daily active users, 514.6 million weekly active users, and more than 100,000 active communities. At the same time, Reddit continues to develop its advertising tools, internal search, and AI-powered answers.

So what is Reddit for a brand: an advertising channel or part of its reputation strategy?

The short answer: primarily the latter. Reddit advertising works, but in iGaming, it is significantly restricted by platform policies. Meanwhile, user discussions influence a brand regardless of whether it pays for advertising. Here's why that matters and where to start.

Reddit is becoming a platform where people look for answers

Reddit used to be associated mainly with topic-specific forums. Today, users come to the platform for recommendations, product comparisons, and other people's experiences.

In Q4 2025, more than 80 million people used Reddit's internal search every week, compared to 60 million a year earlier. At that time, Reddit Answers, the platform's AI-powered search tool, had approximately 15 million weekly users.

Reddit's role in Google Search has also changed. Ahrefs analyzed 145 million search results in the US and found that the Discussions and forums section appeared in 11.7% of them. Reddit was featured in 87.8% of these sections in the US and 83.9% globally. Almost all of these searches were informational: users were looking for answers rather than a specific website.

This means users may encounter discussions about a brand before they even visit its official website.

For iGaming, this is particularly important. Searches such as "[casino name] reddit," "is [brand] legit," or "[brand] withdrawal problems" can lead users to discussions about real player experiences. And these conversations are not always under the operator's control.

However, this visibility is not guaranteed. In its Q2 2026 report, Reddit acknowledged that traffic from Google had been volatile. The search rankings of individual threads can change, so they should be monitored regularly rather than checked just once.

Why user comments can matter more than advertising?

On its own website, a brand highlights its advantages. In advertising, it presents the strongest aspects of its product. On Reddit, users discuss what actually happened.

Was the withdrawal processed quickly? Were the bonus terms clear? How did customer support resolve the issue?

For a potential customer, answers to these questions can be more convincing than an advertising creative. Especially when a discussion includes several independent opinions.

That's why Reddit is gradually becoming part of brand reputation management. Even if a company doesn't have an official account, its product may be discussed across dozens of communities. Ignoring these conversations means leaving part of the brand's reputation unattended.

What matters is not the number of mentions, but how a brand becomes part of the conversation. We explain why aggressive promotion on Reddit can damage brand reputation and how organic community presence differs in Toba Agency's article, “Reddit for iGaming brands: how organic community presence works”.

Reddit also influences what AI says about a brand

Another major development in 2026 is the growth of AI-powered search. ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google's AI search features use Reddit content as a source, particularly when users look for reviews, comparisons, or recommendations.

In March 2026, Peec AI analyzed 30 million sources cited by ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity, and AI Overviews in the US. Reddit was the most frequently cited domain overall, ranking first or second across all these services.

The exact share of citations varies depending on the service, topic, and methodology. The study focused on US data and did not analyze iGaming separately. But the broader principle remains consistent: AI can generate answers about a company based on third-party discussions, not just its official website.

This introduces another dimension to reputation management: AI search visibility. Brands should now monitor not only their Google rankings but also how AI assistants describe them and which sources they reference.

What about Reddit Ads?

Reddit remains a fully developed advertising platform. In Q2 2026, the company's advertising revenue reached $762 million, an increase of 64% year over year.

The platform continues to develop campaign automation, advertising formats, and community analytics tools.

One example is Conversation Summary Add-ons, a format Reddit introduced in 2025. It adds a summary of relevant positive user comments to an advertisement. In early tests, Reddit reported a 19% higher CTR compared to standard image ads. Essentially, the platform is turning real conversations into part of its advertising product.

However, there is an important restriction for iGaming. Gambling advertising on Reddit requires prior approval: the platform verifies the operator's license. Ads can only be displayed in countries and jurisdictions where that license is valid. Creatives must include the disclaimers and age restrictions required by local regulators.

That's why Reddit Ads cannot be considered a universal paid traffic source for every iGaming operator.

Expert perspective: how Toba Group works with Reddit

For Toba Group, Reddit is not just a platform for brand reputation. It is also a source of high-quality traffic, particularly from Tier 1 markets.

"We've already tested several ways of working with Reddit: official Reddit Ads, participation in relevant subreddits, and building brand presence through discussions. Each serves a different purpose. Paid campaigns can generate measurable acquisition results, while discussions can influence brand awareness and drive searches that aren't always directly attributed to Reddit.

What makes Reddit interesting for iGaming is the quality of its audience. Traffic from Tier 1 countries isn't cheap, but we've seen it deliver strong results for our clients. The key is understanding how the platform works and choosing the right approach for each brand."

What Reddit means for iGaming operators?

In the gambling industry, reputation is often shaped by specific issues. A delayed withdrawal, unclear bonus terms, or poor communication with customer support can become the subject of a separate discussion. And if that discussion appears in search results, users who are just discovering the brand may see it.

That's why operators should approach Reddit from several perspectives:

  • Reputation monitoring. Track brand mentions, complaints, reviews, and competitor discussions.

  • Audience communication. Answer questions and resolve issues through official accounts wherever community rules allow.

  • Product insights. Use recurring complaints and questions as a source of feedback for the team.

  • Search visibility. Monitor which Reddit threads appear for branded queries in Google and AI-powered search.

It's also important to understand the platform's culture. Many gambling communities prohibit operator promotions, and official accounts must clearly disclose their affiliation with the brand. An operator's presence on Reddit should therefore focus on support and providing answers, not promotion.

Responsible gambling is another important consideration. All operator communications on Reddit, including responses to complaints, must comply with regulatory requirements. They must not target minors, downplay risks, or promise winnings.

This is work at the intersection of PR, community management, customer support, and compliance.

Reddit already functions as an advertising platform. But for most brands, its influence extends far beyond Reddit Ads.

User discussions appear in Google, become sources for AI-generated answers, and shape how people perceive a product. In iGaming, trust in an operator is built primarily on real player experiences.

So the answer to the question in the title is this: Reddit should primarily be treated as part of a reputation strategy. Advertising is an additional tool where platform policies and licensing requirements allow it.
